Nando’s and London’s Roundhouse have agreed to a two-year partnership, which will focus on supporting up-and-coming young musicians, whilst providing industry support and mentors.
The deal marks the beginning of Nando’s Music Exchange platform, which is part of the restaurant’s long-term vision to nurture up-and-coming talent, providing platforms for performances whether in-restaurant, through its Nando’s Rule the Roost music festival activation or fuelling artists on tour.
As part of the programme, a Nando’s studio will provide an inspiring space to forge fiery collaborations amongst musicians, as well as a base for artist and student mentor sessions.
Kicking off with an exclusive masterclass at the Camden venue on September 9, the event will bring together professional musicians and the next generation of producers, songwriters, DJs and vocalists for a day of inspiring collaborations. In celebration of its South African heritage, Nando’s has bought on board South African DJ/producer Muzi, as well as chart topper Example, who will deliver a mix of sounds from their home countries, for students to fuse into original tracks.
Keri Perkins, head of music for Nando’s commented: “This is an exciting partnership for Nando’s as we look to evolve the Music Exchange over the next few years. Music has always been at the heart of what we do, from our very own Afro-Luso inspired in-restaurant sounds, to giving artists such as Rizzle Kicks and Example a platform to perform or feeding backstage for the likes of Years & Years, Rudimental and Snoop Dogg.
“Our aim is to continue to fuel the music industry by supporting emerging and established musicians, with this partnership being a natural step in taking this further.”
Ellie Sleeman, Roundhouse director added: “We’re really excited about the Music Exchange programme and this new partnership with Nando’s as both brands have a great history of supporting some of the best up and coming musicians. The Roundhouse is known as one of the leading live venues in the UK but it is also a creative hub for young people providing opportunities in music, performing arts, circus and digital. This partnership brings to the table a real opportunity for our young emerging artists.”
