Sia scores songwriter hat trick at APRA Music Awards

Sia has become the first artist to win the APRA Songwriter Of The Year award three years in a row, after she picked up the gong at last night’s ceremony in Sydney.

The elusive singer (pictured) had Fall Out Boy frontman Pete Wentz accept the award on her behalf, via a video speech. She also won Song Of The Year for Chandelier, which was co-written with Jesse Shatkin.

APRA/AMCOS chief executive Brett Cottle said of the triple win: “This is an unprecedented, and very likely never-to-be-repeated achievement by one of our most talented songwriters.”

Pop group Sheppard also took home two awards for single Geronimo, Most Played Australian Work and Pop Work Of The Year. Pop rock boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer collectively won the Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year award.
