Snapchat has recruited Buzzfeed and iHeartRadio for its Discover platform, dropping Warner Music and Yahoo.
Discover launched in January this year, hosting photo and video content for the likes of CNN and ESPN. It’s a second revenue stream for Snapchat, which was valued at a reported $16bn.
Re/code reports that the affiliated Vox.com (who publisher Vox Media also owns Re/code) is also lined up to join the platform later this year.
To begin with, some channels on Discover were reaching up to one million views per day, but sources suggest a mixed response to the platform. A recent design change has moved Discover onto the app’s second page, increasing its prominence.
