SoundCloud has hired DeJuan Wilson as vice president of global marketing and brand.
Wilson (pictured) will be responsible for building and developing the global marketing function of the company, working on its ‘brand story’, and on communicating a value proposition for current and prospective listeners and creators.
Reporting to Eric Wahlforss, co-founder and chief technology officer, the exec will be working on transforming the audio platform into a lifestyle brand when he takes up the role on August 3.
Most recently, Wilson was senior vice president, brand strategy and creative marketing for the MTV2, MTVU and Logo networks at Viacom, where he was responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of a wide-range of network and show campaigns including television, print, experiential and digital.
Wilson has also worked as senior director, global brand marketing at Cole Haan, as well as spending time at Converse, Sean John and The Coca-Cola Company.
Wahlforss said: “DeJuan has a remarkable track record of building brands and running global marketing campaigns. We’re excited to bring DeJuan on board as we continue to scale our platform and bring SoundCloud – and the 100 million tracks on our platform – to more and more creators and listeners.”
