SoundCloud ‘just days away’ from Universal deal
A licensing deal between Universal Music Group and SoundCloud is imminent, according to Digital Music News sources. Insiders will knowledge of the negotiations say they include a substantial stake in SoundCloud, while significant upfront payments are “likely but not confirmed”.

Jeff Walker, a prominent figure in the Nashville music industry died on Monday after suffering a sudden heart attack. UK Police have hijacked ads on 251 pirate sites
The UK’s Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit has taken over adverts on more than 250 pirate websites, data from a Freedom of Information request by TorrentFreak has revealed. The news follows an official PIPCU announcement earlier this month that, working with top ad agencies, it had reduced the amount of ad revenue going to pirate sites by 73%.
