Red Hot Chili Peppers and Calvin Harris will join The Stone Roses as main stage headliners at this year’s T In The Park.
The 85,000-capacity festival returns to the grounds of Strathallan Castle on July 8-10. Other acts announced include Disclosure, Bastille, LCD Soundsystem, Faithless, The 1975, The Last Shadow Puppets, Catfish And The Bottlemen, Jess Glynne, James Bay, Jake Bugg, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Jamie xx, Frank Turner and Major Lazer.
Geoff Ellis, festival director and CEO of promoter DF Concerts & Events, said: “Having listened to fans and festival-goers tell us who they want to see at Strathallan, we worked hard to get those bands on the bill and we’re thrilled to unveil our outstanding line-up for 2016.”
DF recently announced a restructure of the festival’s operational team after the highest number of serious assaults in T In The Park’s history was reported at last year’s event. It has revealed that a brand new transport plan will be issued in the coming weeks, detailing all routes and modes of travel into the festival. Buses and cars will also use separate routes in and out of the festival site to reduce congestion.
The firm has also unveiled that 25% more space is being created in the main area. As part of this the main stage will be relocated, which organisers say will also help open up the flow of the site. The campsite will increase in space by around 28%, while pre-pitched tents and exclusive facilities will be offered through Pink Moon Camping.
“Since we promised to improve the festival from 2015, we’ve focused on delivering those changes – from appointing highly experienced professionals in key planning, security and traffic roles, to reworking our traffic plans to make it easier for fans getting to and from the festival site,” added Ellis. “We’re dedicated to making 2016 our best year yet and with such a brilliant line-up, we’re confident it will be.”
