The Agency Group has ambitions to move into TV production, according to company founder Neil Warnock.
TAG is the world’s largest independent talent agency, with seven offices worldwide and music clients including Dolly Parton, Guns N’ Roses, Muse, Paramore and Nickelback.
Warnock spoke of the firm’s ambitions to move into TV upon announcing the hire of agent Andy Townsend to The Agency Group’s London office.
Although Townsend is a comedy agent, with his appointment very much in that area, any expansion into TV from The Agency Group will likely benefit clients across all disciplines.
Townsend himself spent the early part of his career working in the music industry at Nude records, PIAS and Chris Blackwell’s Palm Pictures before making the move into comedy. He was also integral in launching the PIAS Comedy international distribution network and the ‘Comedy Station’ YouTube channel.
“I’m bringing in Andy to compliment what we are already doing in our very successful literary department and to enhance our eventual ambitions to move into TV production,” said Warnock (pictured). “These departments will all work together and will create the gravitas of what we do – authors will feed into TV as will comedy writers.”
