Universal Music has created a subscription streaming app, Mondia Mix, for iOS and Android with worldwide mobile phone operator association GSMA.
Introduced on March 9 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the platform allows users to stream playlists and select tracks for offline usage, and aims to “keep music rights-holders protected and minimise data costs”.
It’s targeted at mobile operators “wanting to launch an entry level, high quality music streaming application using mobile operator authentication and billing” and “integrates with operator’s core services in a seamless manner”.
Offered as a white label service, Mondia Mix is set up and adjusted to each customer’s market in a few days, and subscription prices and cycles are independent from features.
The content catalogue and editorial choices are managed through a dedicated CMS, and customers can develop their independent front ends, using Mondia Media’s Music API.
